Scavenger Hunt Stop #18

Follow the clues for a Chance to Win a Kindle Fire HDX or 30+ novels!

Welcome to the Autumn 2014 Scavenger Hunt. You have arrived at Stop #18. The hunt begins at noon (Mountain Time Zone) on October 17, 2014. You may have arrived here before the start which could mean all of the sites aren't ready quite yet. Once the official start has begun, you should go to Stop #1 (Robin Lee Hatcher's website) and then work your way through the sites, gathering clues and entering bonus giveaways, until you reach the final stop which will also be on the site of Robin Lee Hatcher.

The hunt ends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at one minute before midnight (Mountain). That means you have all of the weekend to finish it, so take your time. Enjoy reading the exclusive content the authors have prepared for you. You will collect a CLUE IN RED at each stop. Write them down as you go. At the end of the hunt, you will enter the clues into a Rafflecopter form. (The answer will make sense, even if you aren't familiar with the quote.)

The hunt is open to international entries. The grand prize is a Kindle Fire HDX. Two runners-up will receive a new release from each of the participating authors.

IN CASE YOU FIND A BROKEN LINK...

Robin Lee Hatcher has prepared a "cheat sheet" with direct links to each author's post in case a site goes down or a link gets broken. We hope there will be no such issues, but just in case, please make note of the URL for the Participating Authors & Stops page so you can check back and be able to complete the hunt.

And now, I'm excited to introduce you to my friend Ronie Kendig. I had the pleasure of spending several days on a writing retreat with Ronie a couple of years ago. She's warm, fun and a fantastic writer.

Meet Ronie Kendig

Ronie Kendig is an bestselling, award-winning, author who grew up an Army brat. After twenty-plus years of marriage, she and her hunky hero husband have a full life with four children, a Maltese Menace, and a retired military working dog in Northern Virginia. She can be found at www.roniekendig.com, on Facebook, Twitter (@roniekendig), Goodreads, and Pinterest!

About Hawk

Raptor’s communications expert, Staff Sergeant Brian “Hawk” Bledsoe is struggling with his inner demons, leaving him on the verge of an “other than honorable” discharge. Plagued with corrupted intel, Raptor team continues to track down the terrorist playing chess with their lives. Afghan pilot Fekiria Haidary is devastated when a systems glitch on her aircraft forces a weapons launch on a safe target. And when the deadly bombing separates Brian from the team, he must make an impossible choice: save his brothers-in-arms, or save the woman and children depending on him to survive a brutal snowstorm.

Ready to read more? If so, you can buy a copy of Ronie's new book here:

Now, Ronie is going to share a little about her amazing book covers.

Not Just Another Pretty Face

The covers for the Quiet Professionals series are complete, and I’m stoked that all three books feature real American heroes. An unintended result is that three major branches of the U.S. Armed Forces are represented—Army, Air Force, and Marines—through these three heroes.

Raptor 6, a story that features Captain Dean Watters, a Special Forces team leader. This Green Beret is actually modeled not only by a military hero, but by a man who served in the very role Dean is portrayed in—a Green Beret. The Army veteran has several tours of duty under his belt. He also has a beautiful wife and family. It’s been an honor to get to know and pray for his amazing family. He has asked that his identity remain unknown, and I will honor his wishes.

Hawk (which releases November 1 ) features communications specialist, Staff Sergeant Brian “Hawk” Bledsoe. The veteran is an Air Force Security Forces veteran named Brent Gilley. One of the many amazing coincidences with Brent is that his wife nominated him—and his wife serves in the Air Force and is—get this—an military working dog handler! What an amazing couple! I’m so honored to know and pray for them as well!

The final cover was completed late this summer. The character for Falcon is Salvatore Russo, and he is portrayed by Marine veteran Gabriel Martinez. Gabe medically retired a couple of years ago—but he’s not just a veteran. He’s a Purple Heart recipient! His story is featured in Colonel Oliver North (retired) and Bob Hamer’s AmericanHeroes: On the Homefront. Gabe is also a spokesperson for Canine Companions for Independence.

No dream could be more wonderful for me as a writer of military fiction and wanting nothing more than to open dialogue about our military heroes and honor these heroes through my writing—than to have, as a Special Forces veteran said: “not just another pretty face” on the cover. To feature someone who has “been there, done that.” Our military heroes deserve more appreciation and recognition!

I have loved every book of yours including The Guy Next Door. I really did love Darcy being the one to correctly identify the Listeria bug especially after being out of school for awhile. Please keep writing.

Lynn, Vertical Response should send you a confirmation email. Maybe try checking your spam box. Also! I noticed several people had actually subscribed to the blog, so maybe did so instead of the newsletter. I took down the blog subscription just in case it was confusing. :) so if you think you did that, maybe try again. Thanks! I'm sorry for the trouble signing up.
