Teaching a Writing Workshop

Here's a photo of me working. Yes, I work on the couch. No office other than a desk in the basement that never gets used. :)

I wanted to let you know I'll be teaching a basic plotting workshop with my critique partner, Lindi Peterson, June 6-20. The workshop is called The Cinder-Bella Theory: Learn Basic Plotting from Cinderella and Twilight.

Lindi came up with the idea one night after reading Cinderella to her granddaughter. She realized it had a lot in common with the plot of Twilight. :)

The class is a fun workshop we've presented at Romance Writers of America national conference as well as at the Moonlight and Magnolias conference (for Georgia Romance Writers). If you interested in more information or registering for the class, please visit RWA's Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal Chapter's website (click here). (please note...I think they're having some trouble with their website, so please try back later!)

I hope to see you there!

Powerful Movie: The Last Mountain

I just heard about this movie. It looks amazing. My dad was born in the Appalachian mountains in Kentucky. My mom, sister and I were born in northeastern Kentucky in the Appalachian region as well. I still have aunts, uncles and cousins there. It's heart breaking to see what's happening to these mountain areas.

Here's the video trailer:

Angela Breidenbach's Gems of Wisdom--newly released!

Gems of Wisdom: For A Treasure-Filled Life
I wanted to share a book with you today. It's by my friend and fellow blogger, Angela Breidenbach and is titled Gems of Wisdom: For a Treasure-Filled Life.

Here's a brief description:
In Gems of Wisdom: For A Treasure-Filled Life you'll embark on a treasure hunt for God's unique gems of wisdom. Be empowered, learn to influence through your own life lessons, and preserve important relationships. Gems of Wisdom invites the reader on a treasure hunt to find important life concepts represented by the beautiful stones God created. Excellent for Bible study and book clubs as well as individual study.

I've had the opportunity to look at an review copy and have been touched by the stories Angie shares. Here's a look at the contents so you can see some of the issues in our lives that she deals with in the book:

1. What’s Fair? .............................................................................................................
2. Acceptance ..............................................................................................................
3. Opalescence ..............................................................................................................
4. Courage ..............................................................................................................
5. Reframing ..............................................................................................................
6. Forgiveness ..............................................................................................................
7. The Secret of Being Proactive ...................................................................................
8. The Adventure of Confidence .....................................................................................
9. Mercy ..............................................................................................................
10. Self-Care ..............................................................................................................
11. Paradigm ..............................................................................................................
12. Radiance ..............................................................................................................
13. Courtesy ..............................................................................................................
14. Consideration ............................................................................................................
15. Teambuilding .............................................................................................................
16. Filtering ..............................................................................................................
17. The Secret Treasures ................................................................................................
Epilogue ..............................................................................................................
Companion Guide .............................................................................................................

My favorite part of each chapter was the "Personal Place" where Angie tells a story in her own life or the life of someone else that illustrates the theme of the chapter. These stories were touching and at times heartbreaking. But Angie gives us the tools to work through them and start on a road to healing and completeness.

I hope you'll check out Angie's new release! I think any reader would find herself in at least one of the chapters. And would walk away feeling empowered to live in victory.
