Snow in Atlanta!!

We've had a rare--and decent!--snow in the Atlanta area! It was all very exciting yesterday. Our kids were already out of school for a holiday weekend, so we went to a movie. When we went in, there was no precipitation at all. When we came out, there was about 2 inches of snow! The drive home, that normally takes about 35 minutes, took 2 hours!! And we fishtailed all over the place. Very exciting (for the kids) and scary for this mom driving!

Today, though, it's gorgeous outside. Although, soon, we'll have to venture up the road to get our car. We didn't dare drive it down the hill yesterday. We were afraid we might just slide the whole way home. :)

Are any of you readers in an area that's had a lot of snow?

please disregard the date on the photos! I just realized that the date isn't set because the battery was out too long!!

I live on the south side of Atlanta and have enjoyed every minute of our snow, Missy. I stood outside for a while yesterday afternoon, enjoying the gentle quietness and serenity of it and thinking of the words to the beloved hymn, "Whiter Than Snow."

You got some beautiful pictures, Missy... LOL about the date mishap ;)

Glad you made it home safely.

That's a beautiful hymn, Carole.

I love how quiet everything becomes when it snows. An indescribeable peace.

Carole, I love it, too! Everything does seem so peaceful. Especially when I took the dogs out about midnight last night.

Christy, I bet it's pretty around you as well!

Hello Missy! I LOVED the snow!! My husband read that our particular area(south of Atlanta) actually received the most snow (which was surprising) as we had 5 to 6 inches!! Since I'm a life-long Georgia native/resident, I don't EVER remember seeing this much! Our yard and neighborhood was transformed into a "Winter Wonderland" and was so beautiful. As some of the other folks have said, it was so peaceful too. ~ My husband cautioned me about falling (and making my bad back even worse) but I couldn't resist going outside and walking/playing in it a little! And the birds and squirrels were glad I happened to carry the birdseed out with me,LOL! Hugs, Patti Jo :)

Shirley, I'm glad you didn't go out in it! It was so, so slick. We had quite a time walking down our street. I had on high heeled clogs! :)

Jel, people went crazy making snowmen around town. We even saw one on top of an SUV that actually fallen apart as the person was driving. :)

Patti Jo, I saw that you probably got more than we did! My inlaws in south GA got quite a bit. I don't ever remembering them having snow.

So fun! :) Did you get any today? (Monday?) We only got rain.

Hi Missy:

We’ve had twice the normal amount of snow and could set an all time record here in Tulsa. However, the snow doesn’t look as pretty as it does in Atlanta. Great photos.

Missy, I'm glad you made it home safely. We don't get a lot of snow, but when we do, I hate driving in it. It's beautiful, but scary.

YOu know, we actually had a taste of spring the last few days. It hit the low 60's!
